- S. 1Short Title, extent : 1) This Act shall be called “The Mizoram Municipalities (Second Amendment) and commencement Act, 2
- S. 2Amendment of : 1) In Section 2 of the Principal Act, clause (9) shall stand deleted
- S. 3Amendment of : Sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the Section 3
- S. 4Amendment of : In Section 22 of the Principal Act, after clause (b), a new clause shall be Section 22 inserted, namely:-
- S. 5Amendment of : Section 57 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the following, namely :- Section 57 “57
- S. 6Amendment of : Section 58 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the following, namely :- Section 58 “58
- S. 7Deletion of : Sub-section (2) of Section 59 of the Principal Act shall stand deleted
- S. 8The section allows the State Government to adjust and redesign municipal officer positions in Mizoram municipalities.
- S. 9Amendment of : Section 62 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the following, namely :- Section 62 “62-A
- S. 10Amendment of : Section 63 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the following, namely :- Section 63 “63
- S. 11Section 11 establishes a fund for basic services to urban poor and mandates 25% of municipal budget for it.
- S. 12Section 12 amends the valuation method for vacant land and buildings in municipal wards, excluding machinery and furniture.
- S. 13Section 13 amends the classification and valuation of lands and buildings in municipal areas based on location and civic facilities.
- S. 14Section 14 amends property tax exemptions for Central and State Government properties in Mizoram municipalities.
- S. 15Deletion of : Section 220 of the Principal Act shall stand deleted
- S. 16Section amends property tax assessment, allowing owners or occupiers to self-assess annual property tax based on land or building value.
- S. 17Section 17 amends the process for property tax compliance by requiring municipal officers to follow up on overdue self-assessment returns.
- S. 18Amendment of : In Section 253 of the Principal Act, a new section 253-A shall be inserted, Section 253 namely:- “253-A
- S. 19Amendment of : Section 341 of the Principal Act shall be substituted by the following, namely: Section 341 “341
- S. 20Amendment of : In Section 341 of the Principal Act, a new Section 341-A shall be inserted, Section 341 namely: “341-A
- S. 21The section allows the State Government to form a High Powered Committee to oversee municipal area development plans.
- S. 22Section 22 amends the Principal Act to establish a Municipal Appellate Tribunal for appeals against municipal officer orders.
