(1) There shall be a Director of Extension Education who shall be a whole-time officer of the University. He shall be appointed by the Vice- Chancellor with the approval of the Council, subject to such terms and conditions as may be prescribed. (2) The Director of Extension Education shall act as the member- secretary of the extension council and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the faithful observance of the Statutes and the Regulations relating to the extension council. 230 The Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya Act, 2000. (3) The salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of service of the Director of Extension Education shall be such as may be prescribed. (4) The Director of Extension Education shall hold office for a period of four years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further period of four years: Provided that no person shall hold office of the Director of Extension Education for more than eight years in aggregate: Provided further that the Director of Extension Education shall retire from the post if, during the term of his office including the term of re- appointment, he attains the age of sixty years. (5) The Director of Extension Education shall be in overall charge of extension education organisation of the University. He shall have general supervision and control over the extension wing and Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the staff attached thereto. (6) The Director of Extension Education may also be associated with teaching, research and extension programme within the University besides discharging his normal duties (as officer) for which he shall be appointed. (7) The Director of Extension Education shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed on him by Statutes. (8) The Director of Extension Education may, at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor, be associated with teaching, research and extension programme within the University.
