In every case where, under lhis Acl, an offence is punishable wiih fine, or with imprisonment or fine, or with both and a person is sentenced by a Court having jurisdiction to pay a fine, it shall be competent for such Court to direct that in default of payment of fine, he shall suffer imprisonment for such term or, as lhc case may be, such further term, not exceeding six months, as lhe Court may fix,
