(1) All public streets, squares, parks, and gardens vested in the functions or , , , _ , . , . , „ llic Municipal Corporation snail oc under lhc control of the Municipal Commissioner Cmrumv-ioiHT and he shall cause the same Lo be maintained, controlled and regulated of in accordance wiih llie provisions of this Act and the rules and lhe sirccis, cic. regulations made thereunder. (2) The Municipal Commissioner shall, from lime to time, cause ali public streets vested in the Corporation lo be levelled, metalled or paved, channelled, altered or repaired, and may widen, extend or otherwise improve any such street or cause lhe soil thereof to be raised, lowered or altered or may place and repair fences and posts for the safely of pcdcsirians. (3) The Municipal Commissioner shall, from time to lime, cause various items of street fijrniuire including guard rails, traffic lights and traffic signs, sireel markings, median .stripes and such other items Lo be installed or done on public sireels vesting in the Corporation and shall cause lhe same lobe maintained so as lo ensure pub lie safely, convenience and expeditious movement of traffic, including pedestrian traffic.
