(I) The Mayor-in-Council, shall forthwith remedy any defects or irregularities lhal may be pointed out by lhe Slate Government ur llic auditor;; and shall repori to lhe Corporaiion and the State Government lhe aciion taken by il: 1'mvided that if there is a difference of opinion between lhe Mayor- in-Comieil and lhe auditors, ihe Mayor-in-Council. or il lhe Mayor-in- Council does not remedy any defeel or irregularity, ilie auditors, shall refer ihe mailer to the Stale Government wilhin such time and in such manner as the Slale Government may prescribe, and il shall be wilhin llic competence of ilie Stale Government lo pass such orders lliereon as it thinks fit, ( 2 ) It any order made by ihe Stale Government under sub-seciion (1) is not complied wilh, the provisions of section 116 shall, wilh all ncccssary modifications, he deemed to apply as if such order had been made under .seclion 115.
