(1) The guarding personnel on patrol at night shall keep on the move, visiting the warders and convict officers on duty. He shall, on taking over charge, satisfy himself that the correct number of prisoners is reported to be in custody and that everything is secure. (2) In cases of serious sickness, the patrolling officer or guarding personnel shall forthwith send notice to the Duty officer, the Medical Officer and Deputy Superintendent (Security) who shall, if necessary, take steps for shifting the sick prisoner to the hospital. In case any irregularity on the part of guarding personnel or convict officers or prisoners came to his notice, he shall report the matter to the Deputy Superintendent (Administration) next morning and mention it in the night report book. (3) An immediate notice shall be given to the Duty officer, the Medical Officer and the Deputy Superintendent (Security) of any occurrence requiring prompt action such as an escape, attempt to escape, riot, fire or serious sickness by the patrolling officer. Each patrolling officer shall carry a control watch to record the time at which he visits each part of the prison and mention it in the night report book. (4) At the hour for the relief of the guard, the head warder or senior warder shall intimate the relieving guard about the next guarding personnel who is to take the next watch. He shall get them searched by the officers deployed for frisking in the main gate. They shall be searched at entering and leaving the prison in the presence of the duty officer.
