(1) The berths in every barrack shall be numbered in the manner that the even numbers on one side and the odd numbers on the other. A berth shall be allotted to every prisoner and the number of berth shall be entered on the barrack list and the prisoner’s history ticket. Subject to categorization of the prisoners as prescribed in rule 45, prisoners shall be indiscriminately mixed together in barracks without consideration of religion, race, caste and place of residence. The prisoners shall not be transferred from one barrack to another without the orders of the Deputy Superintendent (Security) in consultation with the Superintendent. (2) Suitable number of berths in each barrack shall be earmarked for such prisoner on whom special watch is required in the interest of the security and safety of the prison.
