(1) A duty roster shall be maintained in each prison. The Assistant Superintendent holding the charge of Line Officer shall be responsible for proper maintenance of this register. The register shall contain the names of all guarding personnel on duty with their hours of duty and their signatures for having understood the duty hours. The register shall be sent every day to the Deputy Superintendent (Security) for checking and verification and getting his signatures. The register shall be put up before the Superintendent at least once every week. (2) It shall be the responsibility of the Line Officer and the Deputy Superintendent (Security) to ensure that the warders shall stick to their post according to the duty roster and any violation in this regard shall be immediately brought to the notice of the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall also verify it during his surprise visits to different parts of prisons during day and night. A care shall be taken that the night duty is allotted in rotation. (3) No guarding personnel shall be placed on the same beat two nights in succession nor informed of his beat till he is about to be posted. System of watch inside wards at night.
