(1) During the night, the guarding personnel or convict officer on patrol duty along the main wall of the prison shall not quit his beat or lie down. He shall be armed with a baton, torch light or other such equipment. The inner main wall ‘kotmauka’ beat patrolling shall be organized with disc (patra) system where each beat keep moving like a pendulum pushing the disc from one beat to another. Kotmauka in-charge shall visit all beats of the kotmauka frequently and ensure that all guarding personnel on duty are alert and disc circulation is in order. HARYANA GOVT. GAZ. (EXTRA.), DEC. 30, 2022 (PAUS. 9, 1944 SAKA) 1381 (2) The barracks shall be visited once in every half an hour throughout the night by the guarding personnel on duty who should examine the locks, gratings and doors and satisfy himself that they are secure and that the convict officer on duty inside is alert. He should frequently challenge him with this object and enquire the number of prisoners and satisfy himself that all are present. (3) The guarding personnel and convict officers shall ensure that all the prisoners are quiet and on their respective berths after 10:00 PM and no singing, reading, playing games, watching television or any kind of recreational activities take place after 10:00 PM.
