Section 766

(1) After completion of the evening parades, the night guard shall be brought inside the prison by the Duty Officer. Barrack in-charge, shall then count the prisoners into their wards cells or other compartments and lock them for the night. The Assistant Superintendent (Central Control Room), executive in-charge of barracks and the Deputy Superintendent (Security) shall remain present inside the prison at the time of lockup. When all the prisoners have been locked up the total number of prisoners shall be verified. If found correct, the night guard shall be posted at their respective beat points inside the prison. The number of prisoners locked up in each ward or other building, as well as the total number of prisoners in the prison, shall be shown in the lock-up register to which the Deputy Superintendent (Security) shall append his signatures in token of its correctness. (2) On the completion of the lock-up, the keys of the wards cells and other compartments where prisoners are confined, shall be collected and counted in the presence of the Deputy Superintendent (Administration) who shall note the number in the lock-up register. He shall then cause to lock the keys into the key box provided for the purpose in the main gate and make over the key of such key box to the Duty Officer who shall in turn make over the key to his successor, who shall further deliver it to the Deputy Superintendent on his entering the prison in the morning. The keys of the cook-house and of the wards in which the cooks are confined shall also be placed in the charge of the Duty Officer. (3) The night patrolling officer (to be deputed for two hours shift amongst Category B or Category C) shall visit every ward, barrack, cell, hospital and every other part of the prison and satisfy himself that everything is in order (Sab Achha).
