(1) He shall be fully acquainted with all the details connected with discipline and training of the force and management of the lines. (2) He shall keep under his constant vigil, the guard rooms, warder hostel, kotmauka, prison garden, and other buildings in the prison complex and be responsible to ensure that the same are clean, tidy, and properly kept. (3) He shall post the guarding personnel under the orders of the Deputy Superintendent (Security) explaining to each of them the duties and responsibilities of the post. (4) He shall ensure no guarding personnel slips out of the prison complex without proper sanction and that unauthorized persons are removed from the prison limits. (5) He shall attend all formal parades held in the prison complex and be responsible that all roll-calls are properly held. (6) He shall personally inspect the guard going on and off duty inside the prison and, in case of inability to inspect any shift, he shall so arrange that such inspection is carried out by a responsible officer. Entries of such inspections with the name of the inspecting officer shall be made invariably in the daily diary. (7) He shall visit all guards at the prison periphery at such intervals as specified by the Superintendent. (8) A set of keys of the armoury shall always be in personal custody of the Line Officer. (9) He shall supervise the warder’s mess and maintain it up to date with supplies. (10) He shall maintain order in the guard and organize monthly welfare meetings of the staff members with the Superintendent. (11) He shall be responsible for keeping the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent (Security) informed about the matters of guarding personnel, its discipline, duties, and equipment. (12) He shall be responsible for efficient working and proper deployment of other forces, if any, guarding the prison. (13) He shall make sure that the ceremonial guard is up to date and is always ready for salutation and other duties. (14) He shall maintain liaison with District Police’s Reserve Inspector and Line Officer for guard deployment for sick prisoners in hospitals outside prison.
