(1) Superintendent, Medical Officer, Deputy Superintendent, Nursing Staff, Pharmacy Officer, Subordinate officers, Head Warders and Warders who have been provided Government accommodation in the prison shall be exempted from the liability to pay rent. In cases, where Government accommodation can not be provided, the grant of House Rent Allowance shall be contingent upon the official arranging for himself a residence within a reasonable distance (to be approved by the Superintendent) from the prison, convenient for purpose of his duties and make himself available for duty on call in an emergency. (2) Every subordinate officer of prison, for whom residential quarters are provided, shall reside therein, when free quarters are not provided, the subordinate shall reside in such vicinity as near as possible to the prison. House rent allowance shall be provided to the staff those who are not provided with residential quarters at the rates fixed by the Government.
