(1) Every prisoner shall, as soon as possible, after his first admission to prison, be made to have read over to him in the presence of the Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent (Administration), a list of all items of whatever description which was removed from his person or received with such prisoner at the time of his admission. This list along with a digital image of the prisoner’s item may also be stored digitally in the Prison Management Application. The Deputy Superintendent (Administration) shall match and verify these belongings from the digital image in the Prison Management Application when the prisoner collects them on discharge. (2) If the prisoner acknowledges the correctness of the list, the fact that he does so, and if the prisoner makes any objection to any entry in or to the omission of any article from the list, the nature of the objection shall be noted on the list. (3) If the prisoner can write, he shall be required to sign the list in token of the correctness thereof and the objections (if any) noted thereon. (4) Superintendent shall attest every entry in the list by initialing the same. NOTE:- When such item is handed over by an official receiving it to another official, the receipt of the latter official shall be taken in register No. 1 or 2 or 3 as the case may be, and all such items shall, except for clothing be kept under the charge of the Deputy Superintendent (Administration). Explanation:- ‘Prison Management Application’ shall means such software or application as developed by the Government for the purposes of these rules. Items to be received, when an exception may be made.
