Section 510

(1) The health status of every prisoner shall be categorized as ‘good’, ‘poor’ or ‘indifferent’

(1) The health status of every prisoner shall be categorized as ‘good’, ‘poor’ or ‘indifferent’. On admission to the prison, the health status of the prisoners who are in immediate need of medical treatment shall be recorded as ‘poor’, unless suffering from any trivial and temporary ailment. Those who are not fit for prison work, but do not need hospital treatment, shall be recorded as having ‘indifferent’ health. NOTE. - If a prisoner is in ‘poor’ or ‘indifferent’ health, the Medical Officer shall enter the cause of the disability in his history ticket and admission register. (2) If any prisoner during the medical examination upon admission is discovered to be a transgender, the Medical Officer shall record such fact and bring this to the notice of the Superintendent. (3) When a prisoner with injury on his body is admitted to a prison post police custody, his medical examination shall be conducted and it shall be verified whether such injuries are mentioned in the accompanying Medico Legal Report (MLR) and if there is a variance in the injuries, he shall prepare a fresh MLR describing all injuries and the matter shall be reported to the Superintendent. 1324 HARYANA GOVT.
