(1) The Pharmacy Officer shall obey the lawful orders of the Medical Officer (in charge) and Medical Officer in all matters connected with clinical work and also obey the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendents in all other matters. (2) He shall ensure safe custody of medicines and equipment, bedding and clothing of the hospital and for the proper supply of these articles to the patients in hospital according to the instructions of the Medical Officer (in charge) and the Medical Officer. (3) He shall ensure correct and proper dispensing of medicines and ensure that almirahs are securely locked. (4) He shall keep the dispensary clean and tidy. (5) He shall assist the Medical Officer in the maintenance of the health of the staff and prisoners by compounding and distributing medicines, vaccinating and weighing prisoners, performing clerical work, maintaining order and discipline in the hospital and by carrying out such other duties of the like character as may be imposed on him by the Medical Officer (in charge) or Superintendent. (6) In prisons where there is more than one pharmacy, the Medical Officer (in charge) shall so arrange their duties that at least one is always present in the prison including at night. Nursing staff.
