Section 466

Every convict shall wear the prescribed prison dress

Every convict shall wear the prescribed prison dress. The clothes of convicts shall have no pockets or openings in the lining. All clothing shall be according to the custom of the State. The prisoners shall be provided with dresses to suit their physical measurement: Provided that convicts may be permitted to wear private clothing when, - (a) attending court; (b) on transfer to another prison; (c) having an interview with relatives or legal counsel; or (d) during lockup hours: Provided further that the Director General, may, at any time in his discretion, by general or special order in that behalf, relax the provisions of this rule in respect of any prisoner sentenced to simple imprisonment, subject to such conditions (if any) as he may think fit to impose in that behalf.
