The Additional Director General, Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General and Additional Inspector General shall assist the Director General in all matters connected with the prison administration and correctional services as entrusted by him. Their role, responsibilities, duties, and powers shall be as follows, namely:- (a) to assist the Director General in the administration of prisons and correctional services; (b) to look after the internal administration as per the allocation of work by the Director General; (c) to sanction such expenditure on the procurement of material/services as delegated by the Director General; (d) to formulate policies and plans for improved administrative and operational functioning; (e) to look after matters related to care, welfare, training and treatment of inmates, training of staff, maintenance of discipline and welfare, etc.; (f) to assist the Director General in matters of budget, expenditure, purchases, contracts, and related issues; (g) to attend any other work specifically entrusted by the Director General.
