(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date he enters upon his office or till attaining the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier and shall not be eligible for re-appointment. (2) (a) During the leave or absence of the Vice-Chancellor, or (b) in the event of a permanent vacancy in the office of the Vice-Chancellor, until an appointment is made under sub-section (1) of section 12 to that office, the Director General of the University shall carry on the current duty of the office of the Vice-Chancellor. (3) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole-time salaried officer of the University and his pay, allowances, emoluments and other terms and conditions of service shall be such as may be prescribed. ____________________________________________________________________
