(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the State Government 1[* * * ] in the manner stated hereunder:- (2) (a) There shall be a Search Committee constituted by the State Government consisting of three members, to be nominated by the State Government to recommend suitable names, for appointment of Vice- Chancellor. The members of the Search Committee shall be from any one or more of the following categories, namely:- (i) an eminent educationist; (ii) a retired Judge of the High Court of Gujarat; (iii) a retired Chief Secretary/Additional Chief Secretary of the Government of Gujarat; (iv) former Vice-Chancellor of any University in the State of Gujarat; The State Government shall nominate one of them as the Chairman of the Committee. (b) The members nominated for the committee shall be the persons who are not connected with the University or any institution of the University. (3) The committee appointed under sub-section (2) shall begin the process of recommending the panel of names for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, at least four months, before the probable date of occurrence of the vacancy of the post of the Vice-Chancellor and shall complete within ____________________________________________________________________
