(1) The Governor of Gujarat shall be the Chancellor of the University. He shall, by virtue of his office, be the head of the University. (2) The Chancellor shall have the following powers and functions:- (a) The Chancellor, when present, shall preside at the Convocation of the University and may issue direction to the Vice- Chancellor to convene the meeting of any authority of the University for specific purposes. (b) The Chancellor, in the interests of the University, may direct the Standing Committee to look into the matter of disqualification of any member of the University, authority, body or committee, the conduct of any nominated or appointed or co-opted member if he thinks it is against the smooth functioning of the University.
