Subject to the provisions of this Act and the regulations, the Council of Post- Graduate Studies and Research shall exercise following powers and perform the following functions, namely:- (i) to exercise and control over the academic policy of Post-Graduate Teaching and Research and shall be responsible for the maintenance of standards and quality of Post-Graduate Teaching and Research in different fields of Ayurved; (ii) to organize and co-ordinate the Post-Graduate instruction, teaching and training in the University area; (iii) to deal with all matters relating to Post-Graduate instruction, training and research in various subjects taught in the University or in which training is given research conducted; (iv) to report to the Board of Governors on all matters referred to it by either of them; (v) to recommend to the Board of Governors the names of teachers in faculties to be recognised as University teachers for Post-Graduate instruction or guidance in research; (vi) to lay down conditions under which Post-Graduate students should work; (vii) to recommend to the Board of Governors the names of suitable persons as referees for examining the thesis submitted by the students; (viii) to exercise such other powers and discharge such duties as may be provided for by regulations; and, (ix) generally, to advise on all academic matters falling within its purview.
