The following shall be the powers and functions of the University, namely:- [0} (i) (i) @) ) (vi) (vii) (viii) (ix) (€3] i) (xi) (xiiiy (xiv) to provide for instruction, guidance and research in higher education in all branches of study covered by the early Indian concept of the Sixty Four Kalas; to provide for socially useful practical instruction in the indigenous arts and crafis, and allied branches of vocational learning; to grant or confer, subject to such conditions as the University may deem fit, degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions on the basis of examination, evaluation or any other method of assessment, oif qualified persons; to institute fellowship, scholarship, studentship, Medals and other such distinctions on the matters of academic performance and excellence; to establish, maintain and conduct the affairs of constituent colleges/cultural complexes/off-campus centres of studies ete. within the territory of its jurisdiction; to appoint any person of academic and performative excellence as Visiting Professor or Fellow for the betterment of the University; to institute and establish Professorship, Associate Professorship, Assistant Professorship and any other teaching and research posts; . to coltaborate with other Universities or Institutions of higher education and research, or industry or society, Government and non-Government organizations for the purpose of enhancing the academic activities of the University; to make arrangements for the general welfare of the teachers, officers and other employees of the University; to receive donations, grants, and acquire, hold, manage and dispose of any movable or immovable property; to establish, maintain, manage and recognize hostels; to fix fees payable to the University and to demand and receive such fees; to hold and manage endowments and bursaries, and institute and award fellowships, scholarships, studentships, medals and prizes; to make arrangements for the general welfare of the students and take such measures as would foster in them a habit of hard work, self-dependence and confidence, self-discipline, compassion and a spirit of service to the society in the traditional Indian ethos and value systems.
