(l) The Chief Municipal Executive Officer/Municipal Executive Officer may, if he thinks fit, by notice, in writing, require the owner or the occupier of any land in the municipal area on which trees, shrubs or hedges are growing to keep such tree, shrubs or hedge in a trim condition, and remove any such trees, shrubs and hedge, if it obstructs traffic on any street or poses a danger to public safety or overhangs any street causing inconvenience or danger to the passer - by. (2) If it appears to the Chief Municipal Executive Officer/ Municipal Executive Officer that immediate action is necessary for public safety, he may, without notice as aforesaid cause such tree; shrub or hedge to be removed from the land and the expenses thereof shall be paid by the owner or the occupier of such land.
