(1) If the President is, by reason of leave, illness or other cause, temporarily unable to exercise the powers or perform the duties of his office, the Board shall forthwith report such fact to the State Government and the Vice- President, or if the Vice-President is likewise unable or there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice-President, a member appointed by the State Government in this behalf, shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of the office of the President. (2) If any vacancy occiris in the office of the President by reason of his resignatioa, disqualification, death or the expiration of his term of office, the Vice-President, or if there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice-President, a person appointed by the State Government in this behalf, shall act as President, until a new President as appointed or until the expiration of six months from the date of the vacancy in the office of the President, whichever is earlier. (3) A person appointed,' to act under sub-section (2) as President shall, during the period of such appointment, exercise all the powers and. perform all the duties conferred or imposed upon the President by or under this Act.
