(1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the sponsoring Trust for a period not exceeding five years by following such procedure and on such terms and conditions as may be provided by the University's Statutes: Provided that the Chancellor may be re-appointed for a second term. (2) The Chancellor shall be the head of the University. (3) The Chancellor shall preside over the meetings of the Governing Board and shall, when the Visitor is not present. preside at the convocation of the University for the purpose of conferring degrees, diplomas, awards. certificates or other academic distinctions. (4) The Chancellor shall have the following powers. namely:— (a) to call for any information or record of the University; (b) to appoint the Vice-Chancellor; (c) to remove the Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the provisions of sub section (8) of section 15; and (d) such other powers as may be provided by the University's Statutes and the University s regulations.
