The provisions of each of the Ordinances specified in the Schedule shall have effect as if they had been enacted in an Act of the Provincial Legislature and shall con '-inue in operation for a period of six months from the date on which the said Ordinances by virtue of clause (a) of sub- section (2) of section 88 of the Government of India Act, 1935, cease ;to operate: Provided that the Provincial Government may, by noti- fication in the Official Gazette, direct that the provisions of any of the Ordinances specified in the Schedule shall conti- nue in operation for a further period not exceeding six months if in the opinion of the Provincial Government it is necessary in the public interest so to do.
