(1) The Vice-Chancellor of the University shall be appointid by the Chancellor in consultation with the Minister. He shall be paid from the University Fund such salary and emoluments as the Chancellor may decide and shall hold office for four years. (2) If the Vice-Chancellor is by reason of leave, illness or other cause temporarily unable to exercise the powers and perform the duties of his office, the University may, subject to the approval of the Chancellor, appoint one of its mem- bers to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Vice-Chancellor. (3) If a vacancy occurs in the office of the Vice- Chancellor by, reason of his resignation or death or the expiration of his term of office, the Chancellor shall appoint a new Vice-Chancellor and pending such appointment the University shall, subject to the approval of the Chancellor, authorise one of its members to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Vice-Chancellor.
