(1) There shall be a Mayor-in-Council consisting of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and such number of other elected members of the Corporation, not exceeding seven, as the State Government may from time to time determine. (2) The Deputy Mayor and other members referred to in sub-section (1) shall be nominated by the Mayor from amongst the elected members of the Corporation within a period of thirty days of his entering upon office: Provided that the State Government may, on an application by the Mayor and for reasons to be recorded in writing, extend the period as aforesaid by such period, not exceeding thirty days, as the State Government may think fit. (3) Any casual vacancy in the office of the Deputy Mayor or other members referred to in sub-section (1) caused by death, resignation, removal or otherwise shall be filled up by the Mayor: Provided that no act or proceedings of the Mayor-in-Council shall be called in question or shall become invalid merely by reason of any vacancy in the office of the Deputy Mayor or other members referred to in sub-section (1). (4) The manner of transaction of business of the Mayor-in-Council shall be such as may be determined by the Corporation by regulations.
