(1) No person shall put up any platform, verandah, balcony, sunshade, weather-frame or the like to project over any public street without the written permission of the Board of Councillors. (2) Subject to any rules made by the State Government in this behalf, the Board of Councillors may, in its discretion, give to the owners or occupiers of buildings abutting on public streets written permission to erect or re-erect platform, verandah, balcony, sunshade or weather-frame projecting on a public street or drain on such conditions as it may think fit and on payment of such fees or rent as it may, from time to time, fix.
