All rules made by the State Government under the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, and in force in Calcutta immediately before the date of constitution of the Corpora- tion shall, as from such date, mutatis mutandis apply to and come into force in Howrah to the extent to which they are not repugnan-c to this Act read with the Calcutta Act: Provided that the Calcutta Municipal Electoral (Pre- paration and Publication and Revision and Republication of Electoral Rolls) Rules, 1952 and the Calcutta Corporation (Conduct of Elections of Councillors) Rules, 1952, as in force in Calcutta immediately before the date on which this Act comes into force shall, from such date, mutatis mutandis apply to and come into force in Howrah subject to such modifications and exceptions, if any, as may be specified by the State Government by notification.
