(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, the provisions of the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, as in force in Calcutta immediately before the date of constitution of the Corpora- tion shall, as from that date, mutatis mutandis apply to and come into force in Howrah subject to the modifications and exceptions specified in Schedule B and to the other provisions of this Act :1 Provided that the provisions of sections 6, 9, 19 to 23 and of Chapter IV of the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, as in force in Calcutta immediately before the date on which this Act comes into force shall, from such date, mutatis mutandis apply to and come into force in Howrah subject to the modifications and exceptions specified in Schedule B and to the other provisions of this Act: Provided further that a law coming into force in Calcutta after the date of constitution of the Corporation and repeal- ing, amending or adding to the provisions of the said Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, shall apply to and come into force in Howrah if so directed by the State Government by notifica- tion in the Official Gazette. Applica- tion of the West Bengal Act XXXIII of 1951 to Howrah, (2) A notification applying to and bringing into force in. Howrah any law under the second proviso to sub-section (1) may be issued so as to be retrospective to any date not earlier than the date of coming into force of such law in Calcutta and may provide for such modifications or exceptions, as the State Government may think fit, subject to wh,ich such law shall apply to and come into force in Howrah.
