(1) The Corporation may, with a view to promoting safety, convenience, privacy or sanitation or to securing conformity with the provisions of this Act and the rules and the regulations made thereunder, by order stating reasons in writing require the owner of any existing building to make such alterations therein within such period as may be specified in the order: Provided that before making any such order, the Corporation shall afford a full opportunity to the owner to show cause why such order should not be made. (2) An appeal against an order made by the Corporation under this section shall lie with the District Judge having jurisdiction.
