(1) In any case in which the erection of a building, or any other work connected therewith has been commenced or is being carried on unlawfully having regard to the provisions of this Chapter, the Corporation may, by written notice, require the person car ging on such erection or unlawful work to discontinue the same forthwith, pending further proceedings as respects such unauthorised contruction. (2) If any notice issued under sub-section ( I) is not duly complied with, the Corporation may, with the assistance of the police, if necessary, take such steps as it may consider necessary to stop the continuance of the unalwful work. 620 The Chandernagore Municipal Corporation Act,- 1990. (3) If it appears to the Corporation that it is necessary in order to prevent the continuation of the unlawful work, to depute any police or municipal officer to watch the premises, the cost of providing the same shall be borne by the person to whom the notice was issued under sub- section (1).
