Notwithstanding anything contained in sections 628 and 629, permission to erect a masonry building in thai pan of Haslings which is inciuded in Calcutta shall nol be given so as to contravene, by rendering less strict, any of the provisions of this Act regulating the construction of buildings; and the provisions of seclion 629 shall be in addition to, and not in derogation of, any other powers of the Corporation or any other municipal authority under this Act io take proceedings for lhe demolition of any masonry new building erected in such part of Haslings after lhe commencement of this Acl.
