(1) Whenever under this Acl any application, appeal or reference is made lo a Court of Small Causes having jurisdiction, Lhe Couri may, for lhe purpose of any inquiry or proceeding in connection with such applicalion, appeal or reference, summon and enforce lhe aliendance of witnesses and compel ihem lo give evidence or compel lhe production of documents by Lhe same means and, as far as possible, in lhe same manner as is provided in lhe Presidency Small Cause Courts Aci, 1882 or lhe Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887, as lhe case may be. And, in all mailers relating io any such inquiry or proceeding, lhe Couri shall be guided generally by lhe provisions of lhe Presidency Small Cause Courts Acl, 1882 or the Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887, as lhe case may be, so far as such provisions are applicable io such inquiry or proceeding. (2) If, in any such inquiry or proceeding, any person summoned lo appear before lhe Court fails lo do so, the Court may proceed wiih such inquiry or proceeding in his absence. (3) The cost of every such inquiry or proceeding shall be payable by such persons and in such proportions as lhe Court may direci, and lhe amount of such cosi shall be recoverable as if the same were due under a decree of the Court.
