(I) -[The Corporation shall, wiih the approval of the State Govern men l, appoint an officer on such terms and conditions as the Stale Government] may deiermine lo hear and determine the objections io the annual valuation of lands or buildings entered in the assessment list. (2) The officer appointed under sub-scclion (1) .shall be paid Trom llic Municipal Fund such salary and allowances as lhe Slate Government may determine. (3) The ol llcei" as aforesaid may make such queries and observations in relation to any entry in the assessment list and call for such records, reiurns and explanations as he ihinks fit. (4) Every such query and observalion .shall be promptly taken into consideration by the officer of lhe Corporation to whom il may be addressed and shall be relumed by him wilh the necessary records, returns and explanations.
