(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole-time officer of the University and shall be appointed by the Chancellor in consultation with the Minister. (2) The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of three years and shall be eligible for reappointment. The emoluments and other conditions of service of the Vice-Chancellor shall be such as may be prescribed and shall not be varied to his disadvantage after his appointment. 260 The Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya Act, 1974. XLIX of 1974.1 (Chapter IV.—Officers.—section 21.) (3) The Vice-Chancellor may by writing under his hand addressed to the Chancellor resign his office. The resignation shall be delivered to the Chancellor ordinarily at least sixty days prior to the date on which the Vice-Chancellor wishes to be relieved of his office, but the Chancellor may relieve him earlier. The resignation shall take effect from the date of acceptance. (4) During the temporary absence of the Vice-Chancellor on leave or due to any other reason the Chancellor may authorise any person to officiate as Vice-Chancellor and discharge all his duties.
