(1) For the purpose of discharging its functions efficiently under this Act, the Council may, with the prior approval of the State Government, appoint a Registrar, who shall also act as Secretary and if so decided by the Council shall also act as its Treasurer whenever considered necessary. (2) For the purpose of assisting the Registrar in discharging his day-to-day duties, the Council may appoint a Deputy Registrar, who shall also act as Registrar during any temporary vacancy in the office of the Registrar due to leave or any other reason. (3) The Council may establish separate administrative departments, one each for the Allied Medical and the Para-Medical disciplines, each having a distinct identity of its own under the Council for regulation of profession of that discipline, and may appoint an Assistant Registrar or any other officer for each such department. (4) The Council may appoint such other officers and staff, as it may deem necessary and such other officers and staff shall perform their duties and discharge their functions under general superintendence and control of the Registrar and Deputy Registrar and under overall control of the Council. (5) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), after formation of the Council, for the first time till the first election is held, the Registrar shall be a person appointed by the State Government, who shall hold office during the pleasure of the State Government.
