(1) Whoever :- (a) In contravention of the provision of this Act, the rules or the regulations made under this Act, engaged in the business of distribution or supply of water; or (b) Refuses or fails without reasonable causes to comply with, or give effect to any direction, order or requirement made under this Act; shall be guilty of an offence under this Act. (2) Any person guilty of an offence under clause (a) of sub-section (1) shall punished with imprisonment which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to rupees one Lakh or both and a further penalty of rupees twenty thousand for each day after the first offence during which the offence continues. (3) Any person guilty of an offence under clause (b) of sub-section (1) shall punished with imprisonment which may extend to Six Months or with fine which may extend to rupees one Lakh or both and a further penalty which may extend to rupees five thousand for each day after first offence during which the offence continues.
