A Chairman or a Vice-Chairman of Panchayat Samiti may, at any time, be removed from office by a resolution of the Panchayat Samiti carried by the majority of the existing elected members of the Panchayat Samiti at a meeting specially convened for the purpose in the 1 Inserted by the Tripura Panchayats (third Amendment) Act,2003 Removal of Chairman/Vice- Chairman. 65 prescribed manner. Notice of such meeting shall be given to the prescribed authority by not less than one fifth of the total members. Provided that in such meeting, while any resolution for the removal of the Chairman from his office is under consideration, the Chairman, or while any resolution for the removal of the Vice-Chairman from his office is under consideration, the Vice-Chairman , shall not, though he is present, preside and the provisions of sub-section (3) of Section 87 shall apply in relation to every such meeting as they apply in relation to a meeting from which the Chairman or, as the case may be, the Vice- Chairman is absent.
