(1) The State Government may, by notification , divide a District into Blocks each of which shall comprise such local areas as may be specified in the notification : Provided that a Block may comprise such Grams as are not contiguous or have no common boundaries and are separated by an area to which this Act does not extend or areas in which the remaining Sections of this Act, referred to in sub-section (3) of Section 1, have not come into force. (2) The notification under sub-section (1) shall specify the name of the Block by which it shall be known and shall specify the local limits of such Block. (3) The State Government may, after making such enquiry as it may think fit [***]1 by notification---- (a) exclude from any Block any Gram comprised therein ; (b) include in any Block any Gram contiguous to such Block or separated by an area to which this Act does not extend or in which the remaining Sections of this Act, referred to in sub- section (3) of Section 1, have not come into force ; (c) divide the area of a Block so as to constitute two or more Blocks ; or (d) unite the areas of two or more Blocks so as to constitute a single Block.
