(1) The age for applying to the post of Vice-Chancellor shall not exceed 70 years; (2) Subject to the provisions of the section ‘Vice- Chancellor’, the Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term Chancellor. Vice-Chancellor. Tenure of office etc. of Vice- Chancellor. [Act No.13 of 2024] 17 of three years from the date of his/her appointment and shall be eligible for reappointment to that office for another one term of three years in the manner provided in the Act, provided his age is less than the prescribed age while applying for the second term; (3) The Vice-Chancellor shall be paid such pay and allowances as may, by order, be specified by the Board of Governors, from time to time; (4) When the Vice-Chancellor is unable to exercise his powers, perform his functions and discharge his duties owing to absence, illness or any other cause or when the office of Vice-Chancellor is vacant, the Rector shall be in- charge Vice-Chancellor. The in-charge Vice-Chancellor shall exercise the powers, perform the functions and discharge the duties of the Vice-Chancellor until, the Vice- Chancellor assumes the office, or as the case may be, a new Vice- Chancellor is appointed; (5) It shall be competent for the Chancellor to accept the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor; (6) When the post of the Vice-Chancellor falls permanently vacant, either by resignation or otherwise, the vacancy shall be filled by the Chancellor, on the advice of the Board of Governors, by appointing another person as the Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor so appointed shall hold office for a full-term of three years.
