(1) Except as is otherwise provided in this Act, members shall hold office for a term of three years: Provided that the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, for sufficient cause which shall be stated therein, direct that the term of office of the members of any Board as a whole be extended by such period or periods, not exceeding one year, as may be specified in the notification. (2)(a) The term of office of such members shall be deemed to commence on the date of the first meeting called by the Collector under section 36; (b) The term of office of the outgoing members shall be deemed to extend to and expire with the day before the date of such meeting.
