Statutes.-(1) The Governing Council may, fiom time to time, ii make statutes and amend or repeal the same. *2> . ' $ I -. ;I (2) subject to the pro\;isions of this .4ct, the statutes may provide , ' for,- I ,-(a) the holding of convocation to confer degrees and academic dstinctions ; c (6) the' conferment of honorary degrees and honorary academic - - distinctions.; (c) the mnstitution, powers and functions of the authorities of the - . : University ; /. (d) the manner of filling vacancies among members of the authori- ,tiis of the University ; I I ' (e) the allowances to be paid to the members of the authorities 0 ' the university and committees thereof; - Cf) the prodedure at meetings or the authorities including th quorum for the transaction of business at such meetings; , (g) the authentication of the orders of decisions of the authoritie of the University; ' .(h) the, formation departments of research at the University ; (i) the term of oflice and methods of Appointment and condition3 - - of service of the o$cers of the..Univer~ity other than the Chancellor and the pxpChancdloi ; -- I (j) the qualifications of the teachers and other persons by the University and affiliated colleges or institutions ; employed by the University; (n) the conditions of affiliation of colleges to the University ; (p) the establishment and maintenance , of halls, I I 246 TAME NmU GIOVERNMENT GAZETIE EXTMORDINARY -- ----- ..---.,. - . - --- ---- - -- - - ------- - '(2) Subject to the provisionb of this Act and il:e statuttxs, tile ordinances may provide for,- , / I (a) the agmission of the students to the University and to its 'aililiated colleges and the levy of fees for admission to the University, colleges and University laborato~ies ; I (b) the courses of study leading to all degrees diplomas and other academic distinctions of the University ; .
