(1) The driver of every hackney carriage stand- ~ ~ ~ ~ ing or plying for hire shall drive such carriage to driver ir bound any place named by the hirer which is not more than to drive. three miles from the place of hiring in the case of vehicles of the desoription specified in clause Cf) of section 9 and six miles in the case of any other vehiole.
