(1) for the expression "The term of office of the members of the Syn- dicate other than tne ex-oficio members shall be three years", the following . - . shall be substituted, namely:- "The term of office of the mem$ers of the Syndicate, other than the ex-oflcio membeis, shall be three years and such members shall be el~glble for elecition or nomination for not more than another term of three Years ."; (2) after the proviso, the following proviso and the ~xplanalion shall be added, namely:- "Provided rur .her that where a nlember .is eleoted cl nominated to the I Sy~dicate to a casual ,vacancy, the period of office held far not less thau one year by any such member shall be construed as a full term of three years for the purpose of this su b-section.' .Axpla~lion.- For the purpose of this su b-section, the expression "term" shall ioclude the term held prior to the date of the publication of the Tamil Madu Universities Laws (Seoond Amendment) Act, 1991, in the Tamil Nadu Governmept Gazette.". * ' ., - .._ , ' .13: ~ f t t ~ r Section 17 of the 1478 Act, the following sectton shall be inserted, :- 1'; "17-A.
