(1) On and from the appointed day, the provision of the Madras University Act, 1923 (Tamil Nadu Act VII of 1923) and the Madurai University Act, 1965 * (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1965) (hereinafter in this section referred to as the said Acts) shall cease to apply in respect of the agricultural colleges and the institutions to which this Act applies. Tamil Nadu Act VII of 1923 and Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1965 not to apply. (2) Such cesser shall not affect— (a) the previous operation of the said Acts ; or (b) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment, incurred in respect of any offence committed against the said Acts ; or (c) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of such penalty, forfeiture or punishment, and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed. (3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), all statutes, ordinances and regulations made under the said Acts and in force on the appointed day, shall, in so far as they are not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, continue to be in force until they are repealed by Act, continue to be in force until they are repealed by statutes and regulations to be made under this Act.
