Section 14

Filling of Casual vacancies

Filling of Casual vacancies. - (1) If a member or Chairman dies or resigns or from any cause whatsoever ceases to be such member or Chairman, as the case may be, the vacancy so created shall be filled up by election or nomination, as the case may be, within such period as maybe prescribed. (2) The term of office of a member or Chairman, elected or nominated to fill up the vacancy mentioned in sub-section 91), shall be the remainder of the term of office of the member or Chairman in whose place he has been so elected or nominated: Provided that, in the case of an elected member, if the vacancy is for a period of six months, or less, the State Government may direct that the vacancy be left unfilled until the next general election.
