The Department may utilize Aadhaar authentication, on a voluntary basis, at the time of admission, transfer, release, or during custody in prison, in accordance with the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (Central Act No. 18 of 2016) and the rules made thereunder and the notification(s) issued by the Government of India in this behalf, from time to time.
