(1) Owners and occupiers of high-risk buildings shall appoint a Private Fire Safety Manager to ensure the compliance of all fire prevention and fire safety measures, and thereafter inform the Fire Officer, in writing, within whose jurisdiction the building is located, of the appointment. (2) If the owners and occupiers of any high risk building fail to appoint the Private Fire Safety Manager within thirty days of the requirement being applicable to them, each one of them shall be deemed to be in default jointly and severally. (3) The employers of the Private Fire Safety Manager may take steps to facilitate periodic training for the Private Fire Safety Manager at the National Fire and Emergency Service College, Nagpur or the fire training institute established under this Act or at any other equivalent institution recognised by the Government in this behalf or as may be prescribed.
